Yoga and Fitness Classes 

Class Descriptions: 

Hatha Yoga with Emily Cole: This yoga class is for all levels who want to have some fun, stretch, and relax at the end of the day. Enjoy an hour class with guided by Emily, ending with a calming savasana (meditation). Students will focus on connecting breath to movement and flowing through various poses to ground their energy and bring awareness to their bodies. A great opportunity to slow down and connect with community

Somatic Yoga with Christina Rogoza: Our bodies experience stress due to illness, injury, and aging and our bodies get locked into unhealthy patterns of movement. Essentially our muscles “forget” how to engage to support us. Somatic yoga works through movements that retrain the brain and the nervous system to let go of these patterns. The benefits include improving posture, mobility, and pain relief. Participants appreciate the restorative nature of somatics and can apply it in their daily activities. 

Hatha Yoga with Kelly from Vibe Yoga: Join Kelly from Vibe Yoga for a weekly one hour yoga practice. Classes are taught to the beginner with options to go deeper for the more seasoned yogi. In this class you can expect to connect your breath with movement in order to become more centered in your body.

Chair Yoga with Christina Rogoza: Chair yoga is a gentle and supportive approach that modifies yoga poses so that they can be done while seated in a chair. In our session we will also be doing easy standing movements using the chair as support. Chair yoga is great for anyone including office workers who spend most of their time sitting. Chair yoga includes versions of twists, hip flexion, forward bends, and somatic movements to improve function, muscle tone, and better breathing habits.

Zumba Gold: Zumba Gold is a lower-intensity version of the typical Zumba class and was designed to meet the anatomical, physiological and psychological needs of older adults. Active older adults who are looking for a modified Zumba®class that recreates the original moves you love at a lower-intensity.

Chair Fitness: A low intensity workout that combines cardio, strength and flexibility, all modified to a seated position. A perfect exercise class for older adults, those just starting an exercise routine, those with balance issues, those recovering from an injury or surgery or anyone who needs a low intensity workout.

Cardio Sculpt: A Fast-paced energetic class that gets your blood pumping! High or low-impact workout, using high reps and light to medium weights in combination with equipment like bands. Increase body part definition and total body mobility with this workout.

Zumba: Zumba takes the "work" out of workout, by mixing low-intensity and high-intensity moves for an interval-style, calorie-burning dance fitness party. Once the Latin and World rhythms take over, you'll see why Zumba® Fitness classes are often called exercise in disguise. Super effective? Check. Super fun? Check and check.

Strength and Stretch: A total body conditioning class that will improve your joint stability, overall mobility and posture. Using lower impact & slower paced moves that will leave you feeling balanced and strong.

Chair Yoga with Deb Ward: Chair Yoga is a great way to get moving, no matter what your mobility level is. You will be sitting, stretching and strengthening your way to a happier Healthier you, as you improve muscle tone and function. Gentle movements at your pace and ability with the focus on breath.

Payment and Submission

Payment and submission of this form does not guarantee registration into the selected course. If the course is full or not available, the funds will be returned. Payment can be made by cheque or cash. If paying by cheque, please make cheque payable to Township of Alnwick Haldimand and either mail to 10836 County Rd. 2 Grafton, ON. or drop in mail slot at the same address. 

Collection of personal information

Personal information on this form is collected in accordance with the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, R.S.O. 1990 c.M. 56 under the authority of the Municipal Act 2001, S.O. 2001, c25 and will be used by the Township of Alnwick/Haldimand for the operation of recreation programs.
